The main pillar of the organization is the so-called Local Best Groups. They consist of students, representing the BEST organization in front of the students of the certain universities. The Technical University - Sofia is a member of the organization under the name BEST Sofia. The Local BEST Group Sofia is the only representative of BEST in Bulgaria for the time being. For the first time the students from the Technical University got in touch with the students' organization eight years ago and were invited to take part in the General Meeting of BEST in Stockholm, Sweden in April, 2000. During this meeting we were accepted as members of the organization with the statute of observers. From this point on, our main goal was to get acquainted with the activities of the organization. Upon completion of all necessary conditions, on the Presidents' meeting in Hungary, in November 2000, we received the status of "Baby members" with the right to promote the BEST Organization, the courses offered, and finally to invite the students from the Technical University to participate in these courses, which are free of charge for them. From this moment on BEST Sofia received a lot of new responsibilities as well. One of them is to organize Academical courses every year. During these courses BEST Sofia is supposed to cover all the expenses of the participants during their stay in Sofia, the expenses for food, for accommodation, for social and cultural activities, for the academic part, i.e. for everything, included in the program of the course. After 2 years of diligent and continuous work, in October 2002, during the Presidents' meeting of BEST in Romania, we received the status "Full member of BEST" with the right to vote at the General meetings of BEST. During this meeting BEST Sofia won the first place in the competition for collecting CVs – 288 pieces, kept in the International database, called "BEST Career Center".
