The main pillar of the organization is the so-called Local Best Groups. They consist of students, representing the BEST organization in front of the students of the certain universities. The Technical University - Sofia is a member of the organization under the name BEST Sofia. The Local BEST Group Sofia is the only representative of BEST in Bulgaria for the time being. For the first time the students from the Technical University got in touch with the student's organization eight years ago and were invited to take part in the General Meeting of BEST in Stockholm, Sweden in April, 2000. During this meeting we were accepted as members of the organization with the statute of observers. From this point on our main goal was to get acquainted with the activities of the organization. Upon completion of all necessary conditions on the President's meeting in Hungary, during November 2000, we received the statute of "Baby members" with the right to promote the BEST Organization, the courses offered, and, finally to invite the students from the Technical University to participate in these courses, which are free of charge for them. From this moment on BEST Sofia received a lot of new responsibilities as well. One of them is to organize Academical courses every year. During these courses BEST Sofia is supposed to cover all the expenses of the participants during their stay in Sofia, the expenses for food, for social and cultural activities, for the academic part, i.e. for everything, included in the program of the course. After 2 years of diligent and continuous work in October 2002, during the President's meeting of BEST in Romania we have received the status the full member of BEST with the right to vote during the General meetings of BEST. During this meeting BEST Sofia won the first place in the competition for collecting of CVs – 288 pieces, kept in the International data base, called "BEST Career Center".
